OVERVIEW

Slice & Dice is designed to simplify task management while promoting self-care. By providing practical and affordable solutions, we help students and busy professionals balance their responsibilities without feeling overwhelmed. Through smart planning tools and cost-saving opportunities, our goal is to enhance productivity, reduce stress, and support overall well-being.

PROBLEM

Users are experiencing difficulty in balancing work and personal tasks, often leaving little room for self-care and leading to feelings of stress and overwhelm.

RESEARCH

I began with a design sprint, I asked my interviewees a few key questions: What does their daily life look like? How do they spend their weekends and weekdays?

From there, the conversation naturally shifted to topics like balancing work and personal life and whether they manage to carve out time for themselves.

Qualitative research - Interviews

I wanted to understand – What are the challenges preventing people from prioritizing their well-being, mental health, and overall balance in life?

RESPONSES I RECEIVED

“Hard to manage my personal vs work life, wish I could manage my life & different aspects of of it. I do try my best to make time daily for my mental & physical health & if i miss a day then i usually try my best to make it up on the weekend.”

Sagar , 28, Accountant

“As I grow older, more responsibilities come up, reducing my relaxing time and time to focus on more important things like finding job, staying healthy & day to day work.”

Raksha, 27,

Logistics & Operations

Sonali, 31, Accountant

“I do find it hard to balance and when I do get overwhelmed, I tend to not prioritize or I guess I kind of just push my responsibilities off to the side, which is not good. So yeah, definitely do struggle with that aspect.”

OPPORTUNITY

Juggling multiple responsibilities can be overwhelming, often resulting in burnout, exhaustion, irritability, and neglect of mental well-being.

How widespread is this opportunity?

This opportunity is widespread, as many people, especially in fast-paced environments, struggle to maintain a balanced life. The inability to care for themselves often leads to feelings of sadness, lack of motivation, and diminished enthusiasm, which fuels procrastination.

Based on Alex's challenges

How might we motivate users to stay consistent with task management while also maintaining their mental well-being?

How might we design a system that tracks progress and makes users feel accomplished without adding pressure?

IDEATION & TASK FLOWS

This flow focuses on organizing tasks into categories, customizing lists, and tracking progress with a visual indicator. Users are motivated by rewards for completed tasks, ensuring a simple and engaging experience tailored to their needs.

Confused about the progress bar, wasn’t sure if the task was completed or not.”

Include “Past Tasks Completed” into the application if not in this flow.”

Add in motivational prompts with the tasks to help motivate people.”

Include syncing work calendar to the application”

Shows the idea of a progress bar but how would the user know its a progress bar? The user wouldn’t know the meaning of it. Make it more clear & add in a progress meter or something to show it.”

Scroll calendar is not very user friendly, instead have an option to click & check the monthly calendar & see what all tasks do i have to do instead of scrolling through the dates. Structure of the time schedule for each month.”
